If you are a BIM 360 Glue user, you must have noticed the recent "What's New in Glue?" info introducing the BIM 360 Layout App. Yes, Autodesk just rolled out a new app that extends the benefits of model data to the field there by enabling more coordinated, model driven field layout.
"The Autodesk® BIM 360TM Layout app for iOS and BIM 360 web service provide vertical construction contractors the ability to connect the coordinated model to the construction layout process, helping to increase job site productivity while improving the accuracy of staked or installed building components. "
Improved QA/QC processes in the field and improved Owner as-built models are enabled by the new modern Layout processes. To learn more about Autodesk BIM 360 Layout visit the website.
You can connect your existing coordination models in Glue for Layout workflows or as-built collection now. Similary you can upload the issues or tasks from Point Layout into BIM 360 Field for tracking to completion. Imagine all this being supported by the shared database that is the BIM 360 Platform and leveraged by BIM 360 Glue, BIM 360 Field, and now BIM 360 Layout. As a User this is all about providing seamless workflows.
There is more... Developers now have access to the Point Layout data being consumed by BIM 360 through our web services. Please refer to the Point Service APIs being added to access model data. This combined with the Field Issues API module gives developers access to the set of data on our platform.
Imagine... Imagine a Field SuperIntendent walking by with a NFC-enabled smartphone and automatically validating all the points or the as-built. If there are issues or deviations, these are logged to the Field database automatically. All this without even taking your smartphone out of your pocket!!!
See how Autodesk is using the BIM 360 cloud and mobile infrastructure to push BIM data further into the field using the BIM 360 Layout app and feature within BIM 360 Glue.
